Why Donki Gifting Works
Don Don Donki gift cards have, in the years since launch, become one of the more underrated gifting choices in Singapore. The reasons are simple:
- Wide acceptance — every Donki outlet from Orchard Central to Compass One.
- Broad usefulness — recipients use them for groceries, snacks, beauty, or the Bruno hotplate they have been eyeing (see our appliance wall guide).
- Cultural prestige — Donki is positioned as "premium Japanese lifestyle" in the Singapore market, which raises the perceived value of a gift card vs an equivalent NTUC voucher.
- Multiple denominations — the standard cards run S$10, S$20, S$50, S$100 and S$200; corporate bulk programmes offer custom denominations.
For the wider context on how Donki fits into Singapore Japanese retail see our complete Donki Singapore guide.
Section 1: The Standard Don Don Donki Gift Card
Card Types
Donki Singapore sells two main physical gift cards:
- The Donki Standard Gift Card — Yellow-and-black, with Donpen mascot on the front. Available in S$10, S$20, S$50, S$100 and S$200 denominations. No expiry date when issued post-2022 (pre-2022 cards had a 12-month expiry; check the back of the card).
- The Donki Seasonal Gift Card — Limited-edition designs released for Christmas, Lunar New Year, Valentine's, and special collaborations. Same denominations and rules as the standard card, just nicer packaging.
Where to Buy
Gift cards are sold at the customer-service counter at every Donki outlet. Larger outlets (Orchard Central, JEM, Clarke Quay, Waterway Point) keep stock at the counter at all times. Smaller outlets (Tampines 1, Compass One, Northpoint City) may need to retrieve cards from the back office — allow five minutes if you arrive at a quiet smaller store.
Some larger outlets also display gift cards at a dedicated stand near the checkout queue — Orchard Central, JEM, and Waterway Point all have this. The stand displays empty card sleeves; you take the sleeve to the cashier, who activates the card at checkout and hands it back with the receipt.
Payment for the Cards Themselves
You can buy Donki gift cards using cash, NETS, credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB), PayNow, and GrabPay. Membership points cannot be redeemed toward gift card purchases. Purchases of gift cards do not earn membership points themselves — but the recipient earns points when they spend the card.
Expiry, Loss, and Reload
Post-2022 Donki gift cards do not expire. They cannot be reloaded — once spent to zero, the card is finished. They are bearer instruments; if lost, they cannot be cancelled or replaced (treat them like cash).
Pre-2022 cards with the older design carry a 12-month validity from purchase. If you have an old card, check the back for the expiry date. Expired cards cannot be extended.
Section 2: Donki Paper Vouchers
Less common but still encountered: Donki Singapore issues paper vouchers for specific promotions — the customer-service-counter goodwill voucher for a service recovery, the New Year promotional voucher mailed to members, and the member-anniversary voucher. These are not the same as gift cards:
- Vouchers have an expiry date printed on them, typically 60-90 days.
- Vouchers usually have minimum-spend conditions (e.g. S$10 voucher off S$50 spend).
- Vouchers cannot be redeemed for cash and cannot be exchanged for gift cards.
- Some vouchers exclude specific categories (typically tobacco where applicable, and selected promotional pricing).
If you receive a Donki paper voucher, treat it as use-it-or-lose-it.
Section 3: Corporate Gifting Programme
Donki Singapore operates a corporate gifting programme for B2B customers (employee rewards, client gifts, event giveaways). The programme is administered out of the Orchard Central head-office level and is the right call for orders of 50+ cards or S$5,000+ in face value.
Corporate Programme Features
- Custom denominations — S$25, S$30, S$75 and other non-standard amounts are available on request.
- Volume pricing — Discounts on face value for large orders; typically 2-5% off depending on volume.
- Co-branded sleeves — Custom-printed card sleeves with your company logo, for orders of 200+.
- Bulk delivery — Cards delivered in bulk to a single corporate address.
- Activation control — Cards can be issued inactive and activated in tranches as you distribute them.
- Invoice billing — Corporate clients can pay against an invoice with NET-30 terms, subject to credit approval.
How to Engage the Corporate Team
The corporate-gifting contact is reached via the customer-service email at Donki Singapore (the address is on the receipts; we are not republishing it here to avoid scraping). Allow 5-10 business days for a first response and 3-4 weeks lead-time on a first corporate order.
Section 4: What to Actually Buy as a Donki Gift
If you are giving a Donki gift card paired with a tangible item — the recommended approach for any gift worth S$100+ — here are the pairings that work:
The Housewarming Pairing (S$150-200 total)
- S$100 Donki gift card.
- Bruno Compact Hot Plate BOE021 in pink or mint (S$185) — see our appliance wall guide.
- Donki paper bag with a copy of the latest Hokkaido fair flyer.
The New Parent Pairing (S$80-100)
- S$50 Donki gift card.
- Set of Pigeon brand baby items from the household section.
- Hokkaido-imported chamomile and yuzu baby toiletries.
The Foodie Pairing (S$100)
- S$50 Donki gift card.
- Bottle of Kubota Senju junmai daiginjo sake (around S$45).
- Otafuku okonomiyaki kit with sauce, mayo, bonito flakes and aonori powder — see our sauce deep-dive.
The Office Secret-Santa Pairing (S$30-50)
- S$20 Donki gift card.
- Box of KitKat seasonal flavours.
- Donpen-branded plushie keychain.
The Lunar New Year Hamper (S$200-300)
- S$100 Donki gift card.
- Bottle of mid-range junmai sake (S$60-80).
- Box of Royce' chocolate (S$25-30).
- Seasonal Hokkaido fair imported sweets — see our seasonal calendar.
Section 5: Stacking Gift Cards With Other Discounts
An overlooked benefit. Donki gift cards behave like cash at the till, which means they stack cleanly with all standard discount mechanisms:
- 30% and 50% yellow stickers — apply before payment.
- Member-exclusive POP pricing — applied at scan.
- App coupons — activated and scanned at checkout.
- Then the gift card is tendered for the remaining balance.
- You earn membership points on the post-discount, pre-gift-card amount — i.e. points on whatever your spend was, regardless of whether you paid in cash or in gift card.
This means a gift card recipient who shops the discount stickers and app coupons effectively gets 1.2-1.5x the face value of their card in actual goods. See our membership app guide for the full stacking strategy and our sushi discount-hour guide for the best sticker windows.
Section 6: Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use a Donki gift card at Don Quijote stores in Japan?
No. Singapore-issued gift cards work only at Don Don Donki Singapore outlets. The Japan Don Quijote chain accepts Majica and other separate payment instruments. This is the most common confusion among visiting tourists.
Can I get a refund on an unused gift card?
No. Donki Singapore gift cards are non-refundable and non-exchangeable for cash.
What happens if I partially spend the card?
The remaining balance stays on the card and can be spent on subsequent visits. The cashier prints the remaining balance on the receipt; keep the receipt or check the balance at the customer-service counter on later visits.
Can I gift a Donki gift card to someone outside Singapore?
Physically, yes — it is a bearer card that anyone can use at a Singapore outlet. But the card is only usable at Singapore stores, so the recipient needs to be travelling here.
Are there digital / e-gift cards?
As of early 2026 Donki Singapore has not launched a true e-gift card product. A soft-launch trial of in-app stored-value credit is rumoured for late 2026 but not confirmed. Watch for announcements via the membership app.
Can I buy a card for someone and ship internationally?
Donki Singapore does not offer international shipping for gift cards. If you need this you would have to buy the card and post it yourself.
Do gift cards earn membership points when purchased?
No. The purchase of the card itself does not earn points. Points accrue when the card is spent by the recipient (or you, if you bought it for yourself).
Section 7: Where to Buy Gift Cards in Person (Quick Reference)

- Clarke Quay Central — Customer service counter. Open store hours.

Final Take
For a Singapore-resident gift recipient, a Donki gift card is one of the more flexible and well-received gifting options in the S$50-200 range. The pairing with a tangible item — a Bruno hotplate, a bottle of sake, a Hokkaido snack hamper — raises the gift from generic to thoughtful. For corporate buyers, the volume programme is genuinely competitive and the brand recognition matters in the Singapore office-culture context. If you are gifting a non-Singapore resident, choose something else; the card's geographic limitation undercuts its value.
How To Wrap A Donki Gift Properly
A small but underrated craft. The Donki yellow paper bag is iconic but not, by itself, a wrapping. A few presentation upgrades that take a Donki gift from "casual" to "considered":
- Brown kraft Donki bag (large size). Sold near the customer-service counter at Orchard Central for S$0.80 each. Less garish than the standard yellow bag.
- Furoshiki cloth wrap. Donki carries a small selection of Japanese furoshiki gift cloths near the lifestyle section — S$8-25 depending on size and print. A furoshiki-wrapped Donki gift looks dramatically more considered than a plain bag.
- A handwritten card. Donki sells small Japanese-print greeting cards in the stationery corner; S$3.50-5. Stack inside the bag with the gift card.
- The Donpen sticker. Available at the customer-service counter for a token amount (sometimes free). Stick on the front of the bag.
- A second small item. A Donki gift card alone reads transactional; pair with even a token snack or stationery piece to elevate.
The Corporate Gifting Calendar
If you run an office gifting programme, the Donki calendar matters. Plan around:
- Lunar New Year (January-February): Highest-volume corporate gifting window. Order by early December to guarantee delivery before CNY.
- Mid-Year Performance Review (June-July): Common time for mid-year staff-recognition gifts.
- Year-End / Christmas (November-December): Second-largest corporate window. Order by early November.
- Onboarding kits (rolling): Some companies bundle a small Donki gift card into new-hire welcome packages. Steady year-round volume.
